He was very excited to do this today on his own laptop using Microsoft Word. A character in one of his books writes stories on a laptop, which inspired Aaron to do the same. He worked on this thing for about 45 minutes, popping his head out every 5 minutes or so to ask how to spell something. Poppa is proud.

Today, Christopher took quite a dive off of the computer table when he was reaching with all his might for some pieces of raw broccoli.  (What can I say - he'll eat anything!)  When we were discussing what on his body got hurt, I mentioned, "Was it your head?  Your knee?"

Shannon added, "and his phalanges!"

When I asked her what they are, she said, "fingers!"

She said they learned it at school.  Wow, maybe I should keep her in preschool all the way up until grad school.

Morrissey Creativity!

Today, Leslie taught our son the ancient Morrissey art of Irish Soda bread making. She got the recipe from a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, but I am sure they got it from ancient Irish.

We took advantage of the sticky snow that comes with and Ides of March snowfall and built our first snowman that was bigger than our kids. He lasted about 4 days, spreading cheer to passers by.

Christopher was so inspired this week that he got out his scissors, straws and tape and some boxes he found lying around and made a project. No one has any clue what it is (except Christopher) but we were impressed at the scope of it!

Scenes from Home

Scene 1: Brother and Sister hair salon.

Scene 2: Traditional St. Patrick's Day recreational activities.

Scene 3: Find the morning person in this crowd.

On our last night there, the children really wanted to rent one of the surries they had been passing all week long on the boardwalk.

Shannon and her mommy had fun on the beach we found on the shore opposite our hotel.

We ate out at Epcot the last night at a place called the Biergarten. It was in ther German section, of course.

Lesli showed her kids how to polka.

We had such a wonderful, restful, fun time at Disney. Thanks for "sharing" it with us.

Most of Disney is fake (or, if you prefer, fantasy), so we were surprised to see that Animal Kingdom has lots of real (and really cool) animals.
We were told that the Festival of the Lion King was a must-see, and they were right. It was only 40 minutes, but it was packed with amazing stuff. I wouldn't have thought the live shows were such a big part of Disney.

All that walking can make one thirsty.

Can you find the one that doesn't belong?

Looks like a good rehearsal dinner photo.

Christopher shows off his native talents.

This was the kids' first experience at a Japanese grill. Did we mention that the food at Disney was wonderful?

The best part about our vacation was just being together.

Looks like someone forget who are friends and who is food!
If you click on this to enlarge it, you can probably make out who was the first child in the audience to talk to Crush.

Shannon finally got to take a picture with a princess!

Or two.

MGM was home to a lot of shows we are very familiar with.

Honey, I shrunk you and the kid! (This was a very cool playground.)

The live performance of Beauty and the Beast was a surprise favorite for everyone.

We got there early enough to be first in line to see the Toy Story characters. It turns out that whoever is first in line gets to open the door to Al's Toy Barn and greet Woody and Buzz! That was way cool.

We found Mr. Incredible, too. Mrs. Incredible wasn't available for a picture. I think she was outside stretching her legs at the moment.

Can you tell who the superhero is, and who is an imaginary character from a movie?

MGM studios had a face-painter that we couldn't resist.

The Kids found a neat water park in the Magic Kingdom on Day 2.

Who is that Goofy guy?

We had a character lunch with the Winnie-the-Pooh gang. Christopher was amazed!

Here we are the day of our flight out to Florida. Our plane was delayed four hours due to the ice and snow.

Here we are at our hotel the next morning, eager for our ride to the theme park.

And here we are at the Magic Kingdom. That's right, we went to Walt Disney World for the first time. What you see in the background is Cinderella's castle.

One of our first rides was the very cool Buzz Light Year ride. You shot your laser cannon at little Z targets (Z is for Zerg, Buzz's arch enemy). The car actually keeps track of your score. I won't mention who outscored the rest of the family.

Disney tidbits

It's a Small World is one of the oldest Disney rides. It takes you on a boat ride past diaromas from countries all over the world, with costumes, music and activities appropriate to the country depicted.

I commented to Leslie when we were going through it that they needed to add a section at the end to depict the United States. It would probably have overweight people on the couch, surrounded by high tech devices. The music would change every three seconds.

Another popular ride is "Soaring" -- a virtual hang-gliding ride over California. While Shannon was enjoying the ride, nearly spell-bound, she pondered, "When are we going to see Grandmom and Granddad?"

Disney World Trip

Unfortunately, the high-speed internet at Disney doesn't let you do anything cool like sign in to blogger, so I can't put up any pics until we get back.

We had a four-hour delay getting out of Philadelphia thanks to a snowstorm. Not a bad time to go to Florida, I'd say! We arrived just in time to get a little dinner and get the kids to bed.

Today, we got up early to go to the Magic Kingdom and had a blast. Then we napped it up good and hung out at the hotel, swimming and enjoying the boardwalk. Now, we are watching a movie. Tomorrow, it is back to the Magic Kingdom.

We'll get those pics up as soon as we can!
