See Doug's Dad Sell Chemicals!

Saturday, December 29, 2007

Just wanted to let you all in on some happy news - we just received an e-mail from our guide when we were adopting Chris. She is a very helpful person and wonderful to get to know. She just told us that she became a Christian! Pray for her if you get a chance. She is the smiling one in the middle of the picture.

Often, the joy of Christmas comes to us in the people we love. We had a chance to visit the Schans and Groff family this weekend and on Christmas day. Unfortunately, we have few pics, but here are some.

We may have started a new tradition this year. Shannon told the Christmas story on the flannel graph after Grandpa Gordon read the story from Matthew.

You gotta get up, it's Christmas morning!

One of Chris's favorites was this pirate outfit.

It was modified throughout the day as Chris grew more tired and play grew wilder.

Shannon is Clever, Too

We have tried to be consistent in controlling Chris's portions. He has a little baby fat left to lose. Apparently, the message has gotten into Shannon's head, too.

When Chris and Shannon were visiting at a friend's house, the Mom asked Shannon if there is anything Chris can't eat.

"Yes," Shannon replied, "seconds."

This is just to show our friends and families we are not the kooks Al Gore says we are:

Global Warming Primer

Chris Gets Clever

Last night, Chris came downstairs to get my help finding Rowdy, his toy dog. As I tucked him back in, I notice his pull-up was laying next to his bed. "Did you take your pull-up off?" I asked.

"Yes. I have dry pants. Get candy!" he replied.

I asked Leslie about it and it turns out that in order to motivate him to get up at night and use the bathroom, she promised him candy if he kept his pull-up dry.

Turns out that he had emerged from his room yesterday morning carrying his dry pull-up and announcing that his pants were dry. So, Leslie dutifully rewarded him with candy. When she put him down for his nap, he complained that his bed was wet (now we know why).

So, in his mind he made the calculation that the best way to keep his pull-up dry was to take it off! I guess he figured the candy was worth the wet bed because he tried it again last night, as I already mentioned. I thought it was clever. Leslie thought it was cheating. What do you think?

Thanksgiving with the Morrisseys and our friend, Gina.

We had an idyllic day for getting and decorating the tree. It snowed lightly a couple of inches outside. Leslie and Doug got a couple of hours away from the kids to go shopping for stocking stuffers in downtown Lititz. What a winter wonderland it was!
